Too many tomatoes is a structural issue. This is why we only get California tomatoes in the grocery store.

It will be interesting to see these plants in September. Several questions: r the tomatoes in the same place/hoop house as last year? What soil amendments were used to replenish the soil? Did you need insects to pollinate the crops? Here we are done with tomatoes planted in March and this weekend we will plant our fall crop to harvest in October. We just added a drip irrigation system.

I am new to the north coast (last year in July), have a half acre, am a former Sacto County Master Gardener, and am very interested in learning how to grow food in this very different climate. Practical knowledge from someone also qualifies as an ivory tower intellectual. The size of your tomato plants on 3/20 equals my Texas plants on 4/19.

I have finally planted on 36″ centers after using 24″ centers in Becky’s small space. I have blamed heat, bugs and trees for several years, but a Master Gardener friend said try giving them more room. We’ll see…

what i meant to say is “I’d think that anyone on the left hand side of the aisle – progressives, lefties, liberals, centrists, and even libertarians – WOULD JOIN TOGETHER to MOVE TO AMEND the constitution and rid the US Congress and agencies of corporate domination once and for all.”

Sadly we continue to see internecine struggling on the left, as usual.

The two things I’d hope the broad arc on the left of the aisle would focus on are:

1. Amend the constitution to reverse the Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court.

2. Follow through on PUBLIC FUNDING for elections.

That’s it. With those two issues solved, we would have moved towards a more representative government.

That’s it.

That’s all it would take.
